                             Wibbly Wobbly

I’d heard so many good things about this rally over the past few years that I was really looking forward to going along and seeing for myself if it really was THAT good.
We arrived on the Friday lunch time and while signing in and getting our Wibbly Wobbly mugs the heavens opened (good start) everyone I know who rave about this rally reckon that ‘it’s always glorious sun shine’, typical my first time here

and a monsoon hits Leyburn. Eventually the rain eased enough to put the tents up on the rugby pitches where the views have got to be among the best of any rally.
The rally is held at Leyburn rugby club so we went into the club house ‘they’ll never get 200 people in here’ I said. There were lots of photos pinned to the wall of previous year’s silly games etc. which was good to see as I recognised most of the people taking part. There is no bar in the club house but there is a kitchen that sells burgers etc and cans are sold at the control tent for only £1 each and they are kept in the fridge (bonus).
It’s only a 10 or 15 minute walk into Leyburn so most people head that way for the afternoon as there are some good pubs in the market square.
After a couple of hours in the town it was back to the rugby club where I was forced to eat my words, it was the ideal size for the 200 limit. There were no bands on but who needs bands when you can have the real thing.
Saturday was much the same, into Leyburn for a skin full on the afternoon (Kenny, if you must relieve yourself in the street try not to do it in the police station doorway). Then back to the rally site for the silly games, 4 raw eggs off my head (cheers Chris) and someone said ‘have a go on the bike that turns the wrong way’ I thought ‘how hard can it be just turn left when you want to go right!!!’. I thought wrong and have the bruises to prove it.
The dressing up game was the highlight of the night, Jinks won by imitating a Taliban terrorist as pointed out by the DJ ‘don’t pull the cord Jinks, we’re all friends here’.
